Vlad Eternal

Aliases
Vlad Eternal, Vladimir Illyanovik III

Physical Appearance
Age appears to be in late teen to early twenties
Height ~6’5”
Weight 230 fully equipped
Eyes Red Irises, otherwise normal

Appearance Vlad is pretty tall, and well built, although not physically imposing in any way when compared to some of the more monstrous competitors in the UFF. He has semi-long, unkempt black hair that would turn into a mullet if he let it. He has typical Russian features, but a darker complexion and a shorter nose. The Ruski’s right arm is bulkier than his left because of extensive cybernetics installed in it. Always at his side is his sword, and always on his forearm is his pistol; he tends towards wearing dark jeans and tees with a trench coat, but sometimes, on a whim, he wears something bright and more cheery. Overall his appearance is always slightly disheveled, but in a way most would think of as amusing.

Personality
Once a happy, friendly person, Vlad has more recently had a grim outlook on life. This is a result of his recent encounters with Rivenn, a fighter who knows far more of his family’s history and destiny than Vlad does. Through these encounters, Vlad’s also lost several friends and discovered some darker parts of his family’s history. This has made him less than pleasant to be in the company of. He is dissatisfied with his life, but still he seeks out others to fight because he knows he has less than ten years until the time for his Judgment will come.

In a fight, Vlad is unpredictable and brutal, a far cry from his earlier drunken boxing days, he now seeks to fight only to become better, not for the enjoyment he once received from it. He doesn’t toy with people unless he thinks they can’t handle him in a fight, but he won’t go for the jugular on a fighter he thinks is better than him. He fights out the bulk of his repertoire of maneuvers before he begins his final assault.

Powers/Abilities/Skills
Enhanced Physical Attributes – Strength, stamina, and speed are some of Vlad’s strong points. Able to far exceed the average human’s potential in either, he also has a faster reaction time than many professional fighters. The one problem area for him seems to come up when he takes more than a few direct blows. While he is very willful, and has the stamina to keep going, he is as susceptible as any normal person is to severe injury.

The Voices of Many – This is one ability that doesn’t help Vlad attack anyone, but that will pose a problem for psychics. He has several hundred spirits of the Warriors of the Conflagration within him, and they are always talking about his actions and how they would have done something that he is doing.

They occasionally give him advice or inform him of something relevant he missed, but usually they just bother anyone with who can hear them but can’t block them out. Anyone who can read auras would be puzzled by his, as it looks to be many compacted into one. The real trouble starts if someone tries to see what Vlad is thinking, as they will be confronted with a hundred stubborn warriors trying to force them out.

These attached souls occasionally let slip a memory from their lifetime, most often something traumatic that happened to them, usually related to what is going on with Vlad at that time.

Cybernetics – Because of injuries in the past, Vlad has had to reinforce some parts of his body with cybernetics. His right arm, once broken in many places and nearly ripped out of his shoulder, is now mainly titanium with some platinum wiring. It looks only a bit bigger than his left arm, but has a dozen flat motors in it to supplement his own strength. It also has a bracer that his pistol attaches to by ripping through the skin, and the arm can lock in place at the elbow and shoulder to provide good recoil compensation. Also, he has thermographic receptors installed in his eyes, allowing him to see a temperature overlay of his surroundings, and a Smartlink system, that is to say there is a trajectory computer in his head that can be linked to his pistol when it is active (by means of the cyber-arm) and which plots where the gun is aimed, and where the bullet is expected to hit, onto his retina.

Fire Elementalist – Vlad is gifted with pyrokinetic abilities, and can create fire to reinforce his physical attacks, or to be an outright attack in and of itself. He can also feed a fire with his own energy, or pull energy from an existing flame, even enough to put it out. It can nullify the effects fire has on Vlad and minimize the effects of a fire-based attack. It should be noted that the flames do not have to originate from him or an existing fire (though they may), but that they will always come from something flammable.

Energy Manipulation – Vlad is not limited totally limited in his control of energy to just fire. He is capable of significant internal manifestations of it, able to increase his speed, agility, strength, or even his own skin’s toughness for a limited amount of time. External manifestations are much more difficult, but he is perfectly capable of projecting a small ball of energy at someone. He could also just as easily make a shield, though he would probably prefer to dodge an attack rather than block it.

One of the more commonly used applications of this ability is to make a small, solid platform of energy for just a split second, which can allow him to apparently run through the air or change the course of a jump halfway through it. This allows him to maintain close combat with an aerial opponent, or to keep the focus of an aerial assault on an opponent right there with him or her. It is not strong enough to stop an attack

Marksman – Vlad is a good shot with projectile weapons of all kinds, but he is truly excellent with firearms and heavy weapons. This, along with his cybernetics, makes him more than capable of handling the Degtyarev.

The Conflagration – The most important of Vlad’s abilities is his power to access the Conflagration, the elemental plane of fire. He can do so only for a limited time, otherwise the power would destroy him completely. He would only let it do so if it would result in Rivenn’s demise. As such, he would only use this power source to the following extent in any tournament, though it is capable of more powerful uses than these:
Vlad can significantly increase his reaction speed. This is the most extensive use of internal energy he can do, and it will exponentially increase his reaction time, although not his actual speed. As such, he would have time to admire someone’s resolve as they prepare a counter-attack while his first few hits are landing, though he might not be in a position where he can stop the counter-attack before it hits him.
Vlad can channel power from the Conflagration directly through him, giving him a different and far vaster source of energy for an elemental attack rather than his own spiritual energy or a pre-existing flame.

Martial Arts – Vlad is a martial artist in both spirit and mentality. He practices two main styles, the most dominant being a Sambo/Drunken Boxing hybrid, which rotates around diversionary tactics, rolling assaults, limited acrobatics, and agile dodging. Vlad is also a practitioner of a weapons sub style of Penjik Silat, focused on the use of a short sword or saber and a buckler or gauntlet (or in Vlad’s case, his pistol).

Vlad is not the most durable fighter around, and though he can take pretty heavy punishment, he would rather dodge a blow than take it. Unless he’s busy pounding you, of course…

Weapons/Equipment
Degtyarev DSH K-44 Custom – A large motorized pistol customized to accept a specialty market version of the 14.5mm Soviet round, the Czech 14.5x86mm. The round is a cheap heavy machine gun round, which is the reason for the size of the pistol. It weighs about 10 pounds, and retains the full-auto capabilities of its larger cousins, the Soviet KPV and China's Type 70 series MMGs, but with higher rates of fire. The major drawback to this weapon is its recoil, making full auto all but unusable to anyone without sufficient recoil compensation. Vlad’s cybernetic arm provides enough compensation to control it in short bursts. Its accuracy though, is quite good, and will hit almost exactly where you point it at up to a few miles (though it lacks a scope). The 16 round, horizontally stacked magazine runs along the forearm till it connects to a motor attached to the standard magazine insert. The entire weapon is reinforced and very durable, and can be linked into Vlad's Smartlink system. He often refers to it as Plamya.

Pashar – Vlad’s saber. It is a conduit for energy, allowing any energy that Vlad wishes to expel through it to do so. In addition, the saber can help parry energy attacks. For physical combat, it is a simple saber, with a red tint to its unearthly Orichalum composition. It is very durable, and, in fact, impossible to break without the aid of extremely powerful magic.

Lined Coat – The trench coat Vlad almost always wears is lined with a fabric made up of small machines, essentially nanites, that remain flexible until hit with extreme force, like that of a bullet or other piercing attack. They then stiffen in several inch area around the point of impact, and will stay that way for good. Vlad usually removes this during a real fight, since it becomes stiff and impairs movement, and he would not wear his trench coat during a tourney anyway.

History/Life Story
There is a long and violent history that Vlad has inherited from the Warriors of the Conflagration, but the summary of this history is still being written.
