Uff Olympics

Details taken from the General Info Thread created by Lady Yui.
There will be a total of six events They are:
Magic
Magic or magic-like powers are the only style of combat that will be allowed. Characters may use: magic, ki/chi powers, psychic powers and summoning. No power or innate ability that cancels or nullifies magic is allowed. Use of non-magic defenses ( alla dodging) will be allowed and not penalized unless it is over used. This also applies to the use of shielding, portals, and teleporting. Magically enchanted weapons are not allowed unless the weapon is wholly created by and is magic. Using matter creation or matter manipulation to create any kind of melee or ranged weapon is not allowed and will be penalized. I reserve the right to determine what does and what does not count as a weapon, so if you are unsure it would be best to ask before using it to avoid being penalized. Fighters are not allowed to wear armor unless specifically approved before hand.
Weaponry (medival)
Any imple, pre-firearm weapon allowed. Swords, bows, axes, spears, whips, clubs, lances, etc. Weapons with enchantments on them will be allowed only with approval. Fighters may only attack with a weapon, but are not restricted to defending only with a weapon. They may not use magic to defend, only physical means such as dodging or jumping out of the way. Armor is allowed. Enchanted armor must have approval.
Weaponry (modern)
This event allows anything technological. Guns, lazers, blasters, rocket launchers, power armor, and gadgets and gizmos. Anything wacky (with approval). Mecha are allowed with approval, and cannot stand over fifteen feet tall when active. I reserve the right to allow or deny anything. All items the character possesses must be listed individually on the profile, as well as an explanation for how everything being used can be carried on the characters person.
Hand-to-Hand
Hand-to-hand fighting only, pure and simple. No weapon of any kind may be used that is not a natural part of the fighters body. Because of this, no cyborgs will be allowed. Also, combatants must be humanoid (is. - no animals allowed, anthropomorphic creatures are allowed, shape shifters allowed but are restricted to one form they must use for the entire day). The claws of a werewolf are natural, the adamantium claws of Wolverine are not. I reserve the right to make final decision on what is acceptable and what is not, so if you are unsure please feel free to ask. Absolutely no armor is allowed unless it is natural (ie. - a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle would have natural armor).
Free Form Endurance
Anything goes in this event with one exception. There is no healing allowed all day long. Fighters are treated and bandaged between rounds (such as broken bones being set, bleeding wounds being bound or possibly stitched, etc.) if they explain how it is happening, but the damage taken in any given round carries over to all fights afterward until the fighter is either eliminated or wins the event. If a character is KO'd in a fight then s/he lose that fight (including passing out due to excessive pain and/or blood loss), but can be woken up to fight in his or her next fight if the scene is roleplayed out.

Fighters will, of course, be healed at the end of the event, and if a player feels that his or her character has taken enough damage to be unable to fight in his or her next fight without magical healing then that player can bow the character in question out of the event and have them treated. Doing so eliminates the character regardless of whether the fighter has lost any fights. No character will be assumed to have died because of a fight unless the player of the character specifically has the character die (in which case the character is officially dead).
Scavenger Hunt
All combatants who enter will be divided into equal (if possible) groups for the first round. They will all be placed into the central room of a maze that will have many passages leading away from it. Some passages are dead ends, and others lead to four treasures hidden and guarded within the maze. The first two fighters who retrieve all four items will move on to the final round. Fighters may attempt to fight each other or mislead others into going the wrong way should they encounter each other within the maze.

Each fighter will be assigned an equal number of "hit points," and traps and other dangers within the maze can cause a fighter to lose hit points. A fighter who loses all their points is eliminated. Judges will determine whether a defense adequately stops a fighter from taking hit point damage. If a blow lands from a maze hazard, no matter whether it deals a glancing blow or a full strength blow, the same pre-determined number of hit points will be deducted so that no call can be made against judges for awarding less damage to some fighters than others.

The maze will be divided into equal floor sections, and a fighter may only move a certain number of steps during a 24 hour real-time day. This is to ensure that it does take time for a fighter to progress through the maze, and imposes a penalty for going down a passage that dead ends. The maze coordinator will keep track of the timing for all present in the maze so that fighters will know if/when they encounter each other while exploring.

Fighters will have to pass a test to gain a treasure, and each test will be of a different nature. The first two to return to the central chamber with all four items proceed on. If only one fighter or no fighter gets everything, then the two with the most items will move on. In the case of a tie, the remaining hit points will be the deciding factor. In the case of a true tie (which hopefully won't happen), all ties fighters will move on to the final round. Due to the complexity of this event, rounds will not have the same real-time time limit that the other events will.
Each event will be its own mini-tournament, and medals will be awarded for the top three fighters in each event. Any character who participates in at least four of the six events becomes eligible to win the All Around Championship, based on averaging their scores from each individual event participated in. Medals will be awarded for the top three All Around placers.

Players will be allowed to enter up to three characters per event. There will not be any power level divisions. There will be a panel of three judges who will be responsible for judging all the events, and therefore no judge may enter any characters in the tournament. The three judges are: myself, Derracles, and Keera. Yes, this may mean that you could end up having a fight between two of your own characters.

In the unlikely event of a tie, each fight will have one of the judges randomly chosen to be the "call judge." If a tie occurs, the winner of the fight will be decided based on which fighter the call judge scored as the winner. Mention will be made of which judge is the call judge for each fight.

The judges scores will be posted anonymously in the same fasion the scores were done in the CZ. Any OOC rudeness that occurs over disagreement with the scores will be considered grounds for having all characters disqualified from the Event. This counts anything that one of the judges sees or can show me proof of, including comments made in AE, over ICQ or AIM, and here on this board.

Unlike previous tournaments where characters are allowed to both fight and continue roleplaying elsewhere on the board, this will not be allowed for this event. The Olympics are designed to be a major UFF Event in the storyline, and as such all fighters will be required to follow UFF Rule #1. Characters will recieve points for continuity and storyline in this tournament, in addition to the normal criteria. There is one, and only one, exception to this rule.

Because there are six different events which, for real world time purposes, will be going on simultaneously, characters entered in multiple events will be allowed to post in all events at the same time. The storyline reason behind this is that, chronologically, the events will take place one at a time over the course of a week of UFF time.

Day One - Magic Event
Day Two - Medival Weapons Event
Day Three - Modern Weapons Event
Day Four - Hand-to-Hand Event
Day Five - Endurance Event
Day Six - Scavenger Hunt Event
Day Seven - Scores Announced and Medals Awarded

Storyline-wise, all players will need to roleplay their characters with regards to acknowledging that the character was in a previous event the day before and is now in a new event today, even though the previous fight may not even be over yet and both fights are taking place simultaneously. Maintaining storyline and continuity are important, since part of a fighters score is based on doing so.

Items carried by characters can and could very well be destroyed over the course of a fight. Items like this will be gone for the rest of the day for that event, but will be restored that night between events. In all but one event, all fighters will have the opportunity to fully heal between rounds of their fight, but will not do so unless they explain how the healing is taking place. If you assume that you are healed without describing how it happens, then the character will be considered to have entered the next fight still wounded from whatever happened to him or her in the previous fight.

All fights except for the Scavenger Hunt will take place in the Arenas that were used for the Budokai. Hazards may still occur, but all fighters will be put in the same kind of arena so that everyone has the same environment to work with.

All but the Day Six event will be double elimination Swiss style format, with a winners and a losers bracket. There may be byes, but there will be no "wild card" slots. After two losses a fighter is eliminated from that event, though will still continue in any other events s/he is entered in.

There will be a slightly different set of judging criteria which I will make available once it is finished. It will be basically the same as the one in the CZ, but will include the story and continuity points and also have had the addition and subtraction of points changed to half points for some things. This will make it so that a fighter could recieve a score of 7.5 for a post instead of 7 or 8, etc.
