Appearance:
At 5'9", with a slightly muscular build, he may not seem quite that intimidating. But despite his good looks, his long brown hair which reaches now to the small of his back, and his height, which is below the average for many of the UFF fighters of his full power class, he is vicious in battle, cold and calculating. He usually wears a forest green gi, embroidered with both his schools' insignia, but is seen at UFF functions with an outfit reminiscent of his now deceased cousin, a forest green Chinese tie-shut shirt, and baggy pants. In fights he tends to braid his hair, and in functions wears it loose or in a ponytail. He's highly protective of his hair, having developed many techniques to avoid an unwanted trim, and has streamlined his movements to keep his wild hair in check.
Personality:
He has seen a lot of the world in his long experience, and hasn't found much in recent time to surprise him. He's rather distant, keeping up his loner persona, but that's just a front for all the pain and sorrow he has been dealt since becoming the Third Avatar of the Legendary Phoenix. While fighting, he is cold and analytical, but doesn't like going for the killing blow, relishing the feel of battle. He seems cheerful on the outside, willing to give his advice or just be there for someone, although still trying to keep his distance. He has very few friends, and changes accordingly. He tries to not get too attached, since he believes that he will outlive them. He can usually be seen hanging out/sparring with Ryu and/or Jezko. He has a link to the Demon Akuma, but will not answer if inquired.

Martial Arts:
Shin Saotome Musabetsu Kakuto Ryu, Saotome School of the Flow of Ki, various arts assimilated into the Shin Musabetsu Kakuto Ryu
The Shin Saotome Musabetsu Kakuto Ryu is his take on Anything Goes, an attempt to restore honor to the style by fighting more fairly. It is at heart an aerial form, but he has long since adapted to ground and anti-air styles. He has a habit of taking others attacks and adapting them, or simply coming up with a clever counter.
The Flow of Ki is more a state of awareness than an actual fighting style. So far, Kaneda has uncovered techniques to collect and project ki, convert his chi into ki and vice versa, and use chi to extend his awareness and senses. At its most perfect form, one is able to have an endless source of power, in the end extending his life longer than usual. Kaneda has no need for the perfect form, but uses the meditation to find peace with himself.
General Overview:
Living over 200 years has it's disadvantages. Saotome Kaneda, Third Avatar of the Legendary Phoenix, and Bearer of the Saotome Long Blade, has overcome quite a few obstacles in his lifetime. Being able to eradicate the evil from the previous Avatar, his "Grandfather", he forged the Saotome Long Blade he wields to this day, after the destruction of it's predecessor. He married, had kids, and found out his current problem. Being the Avatar to the Phoenix, a side effect of the amazing power bestowed upon him, is immortality. Outliving many of his good friends, his wife, and his family, he turns into a shell of his former self, constantly training. He has since mastered almost every Martial Art known, and incorporated each into what is now known as the Ancient Saotome Musabetsu Kakuto Ryu, as well as gaining an extensive understanding of the power of life through the School of the Flow of Ki.
For many years he has wandered the planet, teaching others and gaining more insight of the Flow of Ki school's secrets. At some point he came across the UFF Island, drawn to the amazing concentration of powerful opponents like a moth to flame. For some reason, he has randomly appeared in several tourneys so far, never winning but making his presence known. After a while, he has risen to CEO status, and has taken up temporary lodging in the main UFF compound.
